Lalbagh Botanical Garden

Lalbagh is one of Bengaluru’s major attractions. A sprawling garden situated in a 240 acres piece of land in the heart of the city, Lalbagh houses India’s largest collection of tropical plants and sub-tropical plants, including trees that are several centuries old. Exhibits like the Snow White and the seven dwarfs, and a topiary park, an expansive lake, a beautiful glasshouse modelled around the Crystal Palace in London adorn the park giving it a surrealistic atmosphere. ATTRACTIONS IN LALBAGH

Lalbagh Glass House: Lalbagh Glass House is a giant palace like glass and iron structure, inspired by Crystal Palace in London’s Hyde Park. Lalbagh glass house was built in 1989 and renovated in 2004 and remains the primary attraction for visitors of Lalbagh.

Lalbagh Lake: Lalbagh has a large lake in its southern part, complete with walking trails, a bridge and a mini waterfall.

Seasonal attractions at Lalbagh: Lalbagh hosts several events throughout the year- Lalbagh flower show during Republic Day (26 January) and Independence Day (15 August), Mango/Jackfruit festivals during summer, cultural shows at Band stand are some of the popular events held in Lalbagh.







VISWESWARAYA MUSEUM

Why is Visvesvaraya Museum famous?
Established in the memory of Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya, Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM) is a popular attraction for industrial engines and products. Spread over an area of 4,000 sq m around Cubbon Park, it houses a dinosaur corner with a 1:1 scale replica of the Wright Brothers.
Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bangalore, popularly known as Visvesvaraya Museum it’s a constituent unit of National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, was established in memory of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. A modest building with a built up area of 4000 sq. mtrs. was constructed in the serene surrounding of the Cubbon Park, housing various industrial products and engines, which was opened by the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 14.07.1962. The first gallery set up at VISVESVARAYA INDUSTRIAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL MUSEUM on the theme ‘Electricity” was opened to the public on 27.07.1965 by the then Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting & Bharat Ratna Indira Gandhi. 
CUBBON PARK

, Cubbon Park in the city of Bangalore is a major sightseeing attraction rich in green foliage. It is a green belt region of the city and is an ideal place for nature lovers and those seeking a calm atmosphere. Having been laid down by Lord Cubbon, the park is named so in his honour. It is home to more than 6,000 trees that support a vibrant ecosystem. In addition to being a natural sightseeing destination, some of the major structures of the city such as the Attara Kacheri, Cubbon Park Museum and Sheshadri Iyer Memorial Park are also situated here. Another famous attraction in the Cubbon Park is The Bangalore Aquarium, which is the second largest aquarium in India.

Cubbon Park was originally spread over 100 acres, which was later extended to 300 acres. First established in the year 1870 by Sri John Meade (acting Commissioner of Mysore), Cubbon Park has a long history. Major General Richard Sankey (Chief Engineer of the State) conceived this park in honour of Sri John Meade. Initially, the park was called "Meade's Park" and later came to be known as the Cubbon Park. Since the introduction of the park, it was made and improved in many ways.

A gentle amalgam of natural and man - made sights, Cubbon Park has multicoloured exotic floral beds lining its various avenues which are located close to important administrative buildings like:

  • Central Public Library
  • Government Museum
  • Sir Vishweshwariah Industrial and Technological Museum
  • Karnataka High Court
  • Venkatappa Art Gallery

Numerous statues adorn the park complex as well. Like that of:

  • Queen Victoria
  • King Edward VII
  • Major General Sir Mark Cubbon
  • Rajya Dhurandhara Sir K. Sheshadri Iyer
  • Sri Chamarajendra Wodeyar 

Freedom Park

The former prison of Bangalore known as Central Jail has been revamped and reformed as a park. Inaugurated to the public in November 2008, the park has a library, a joggers' stretch, a children's play area and a part of it has been dedicated for holding protests. It also has brilliant sculptures of olden days prisoners.

JAWAHARLAL NEHRU PLANETARIUM

Sky Theatre is one of the main attractions of the JN Planetarium whose roof is a perfect hemispherical dome to imitate the way sky looks to us. This theatre, seating around 210 in recliners, holds shows projected on the domed roof and has a unidirectional view all around. The shows are mainly short films and documentaries which impart detailed knowledge about historical and scientific facts, voyage stories, anecdotes, mostly about the constellations and galaxies. The fascinating view along with narration and music keep the audience engaged. It is one of a kind experience which only a few places in India offer.

Vidhana soudha..


Vidhana Soudha is an iconic government building located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. It stands as a symbol of the state's political and administrative power.
